CONFERENCE TO PIECE TOGETHER SOLUTION OVER UTILITIES

LGNZ Media Release

Conference to piece together solution over utilities
The New Zealand Utilities Conference 2002 has been designed to raise awareness of policy issues and initiatives that encourage better management of the roading corridor.

The conference called 'Utilities in the Road - Completing the Jigsaw' aims to create one picture.
Utilities Advisory Group Chairperson John Hutchings says the most valuable piece of New Zealand real estate space in any city or town is the roading corridor.

"At the moment competition for this space is heating up and there is little coordination and clarity about who should have the final say over allocating this space.

This conference will lay the pieces of the jigsaw on the table and work towards creating a new picture that both facilitates easy access for utilities services, that benefits the communities, while avoiding endless disruptions from competition between utility companies."

Utility and councils representatives, MPs and overseas experts are getting together to put the utilities jigsaw together.
